Description
A rare 18th-century English Delft wine bin label, or coat-hanger label, boldly inscribed “MALMSEY.” in cobalt blue within its distinctive triangular form.
Probably produced in London, circa 1760, the label retains its original pierced lug for suspension and displays the typical fine crackle to the tin glaze.
Such labels identified wine casks or cellar bins and are now prized for their graphic simplicity and association with Georgian wine culture.
The lettering is crisply painted, showing the confident hand of a skilled London delft decorator.
