Description
Chelsea Red Anchor Period Kakiemon Dish of impressive quatrefoil form, dating to circa 1755 and decorated in the elegant Kakiemon palette with exotic birds perched amongst flowering prunus branches.
This fine example of Chelsea Red Anchor Period Kakiemon Dish design displays the refined iron-red, turquoise and blue enamels characteristic of the celebrated Red Anchor period at the Chelsea factory.
One bird stands upon a flowering branch while another descends in flight, creating a balanced and lively composition derived from Japanese Kakiemon prototypes but interpreted with mid-18th-century English sophistication.
The underside bears the red anchor mark, confirming its attribution to Chelsea during its most sought-after production period.
