A fine 17th century London delft dish, moulded and painted around c.1690, decorated with a bold tulip motif in blue and ochre. This early English tin-glazed dish shows the strong colouring, floral stylisation, and scalloped moulded shape typical of late-17th-century production.
The glaze is bright and well preserved, and the design remains crisp — a particularly attractive survival from the period when London was the leading centre of English delftware.
About this 17th century London delft dish
The moulded, lobed form and central tulip bouquet are characteristic features of London workshops active in the final decades of the 1600s. Pieces from this period are increasingly scarce, especially in such clean condition, and this example shows the influence of Dutch tin-glazed wares while retaining its distinctly English interpretation.
