Description
Bristol Delft plate with shepherds, a charming mid-18th-century English example painted in cobalt blue with two shepherds tending their flock within a gently rolling landscape.
The scene is framed by softly sponged trees and distant buildings, executed in a manner closely associated with the Bowen style of Bristol delftware decoration.
The composition captures a pastoral calm typical of Bristol output around 1750, with confident brushwork and atmospheric sponging giving depth to the landscape.
The reverse bears a Warren Collection label, adding desirable provenance to this attractive and collectable piece of English tin-glazed earthenware.
